THE VOTE Who is the best player in the world right now?
In other sports, it's clear who is the best player in the world right now. In tennis it's Roger Federer, in golf Tiger Woods, in rugby union Dan Carter, in snooker Ronnie O'Sullivan etc. But in football, there's currently no one who you'd say is head and shoulders above the rest – or is there? I'm not going to throw any names into the pot on this one; I'll leave it to you, the Pies readers, to post your nominations. It will be interesting to see what you think. Away you go…

Ronaldinho, not having a great season by his standards but i dont think theres a manager in the world who wouldn't swap their best player for him.

Ronaldinho's certainly up there with the very best Django. That said, I don't think Fergie would swap him for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The schtick is that this is the best player in the world right now. Cristiano Ronaldo may be a virtual lock to claim that title in the next couple years, but I'm not sure he has the consistency necessary to claim it right now.
A bit more consistency and work on his finishing and he'll be ready to claim his throne.

On their day, Ronaldinho. But on current form it has to be Cristiano Ronaldo, though it pains me to say it.

Obviously Gareth Bale.

Well, we're asking who the best player in the world is right now, which I guess means who's on the best run of form. I dunno. Ronaldo is probably on the best form right now. However, Henry is catching up, as is Ronaldinho. Maybe Kaka. Earlier on I would have said Drogba. If it's all about the current moment, it's probably Ronaldo though.

John Terry, look how his mighty team have crumbled without him. Barca can live without Ronaldinho, Man U without Ronaldo but Chelsea really can't get by without #26. I'd say Henry is next as Arsenal don't seem the same side without him.
