THE VOTE Is this Gareth Bale kid worth £10m? (with YouTube evidence)

Bale I must admit, I have no idea if Southampton's Gareth Bale is as good as people say. I've only seen very brief clips of him on telly. Yes, he looks like a very talented kid, but £10m is an awful lot to shell out on potential – and for a full-back. That said, if his ball skils are anything to go by (watch the YouTube vid, after the click), then he has the ability to play on the left wing too.

It'll be interesting to see which club has actually put in a £10m bid for Bale. Man Yoo and Spurs have had lesser bids rejected – my guess would be Newcastle, who love a good bidding war.

So we now know that a defender can take free kicks and do kick ups, can he actually tackle and do his job? To be honest I think ten million for an un proven player in top flight football, but then I can't see his football manager stats can I? ;)

£10m is a hell of a lot. Bale is wonderful. He's the left back Roberto Carlos should've been. But he's not even 18 yet and has a lot to learn. I don't think he's in a hurry. Plenty of other times before this BBC article he, his agent, and his parents have indicated he doesn't want to leave this January. And with 18 months left on his contract, Saints can wait until this summer. Heck, if Southampton does get promoted he may stick around for a couple years. Nothing wrong with waiting tile you're 21 - 22 to make a move to a big club. Especially for a defender where experience is more important as raw talent.

I hope he succeeds, I really do. He's clearly a rare talent – perhaps because he is Welsh, the London media will give him an easier ride.

i've seen him play this year and he is the best full back in the championship i'd say. he's got a wonderful first touch and got crosses into the box from seemingly impossible positions. with the prem winners now bagging £50m surely he's worth £10m, its not as if its a huge amount for the top few teams to be paying these days anyway
