Chat-show king Conan O'Brien gently mocks David Beckham and the LA Galaxy
I love Conan O'Brien – his wacky hair, his whiny voice, his heavy sarcasm (whoever said Americans don't get sarcasm is taking out of their ass – stupid Americans don't get sarcasm, just like stupid Brits don't get sarcasm…)

That's one of the funnier late-night skits I've seen in a while. It definitely sums up the attitude towards football in the mainstream USA.
The best line? "Right now there are viewers writing angry letters - with their feet!"

Fact is, David Beckham's only one footballer. You need a league of talent for MLS to be respectable, not just one superstar.

Fair point Matt, but I think that Beckham's move could open the floodgates for more 30something stars to move Stateside. Thanks for your comment (you too Justin).

I think Matt hit it right on the head. Beckham is one guy. Fair enough to assume that he might be the first of many. But no other footballer has NEARLY the recognition stateside as Beckham, I was recently in sports shop in Charlotte NC, they had one type of soccer jersey, Beckham's #23 Madrid shirt and NOTHING ELSE, no Brazil, no Italy, no Man U, no Barcelona. No one is going to put up the money to bring the Gary Nevilles or the Sol Campbells, to the MLS because off the field they have no recognition which is the only reason Becks is getting that monsterous salary.
